Rich Hejny inspires companies to take a more proactive approach in helping their employees succeed both physically and financially. The healthcare system, for far too long, has taken advantage of employers & their employees. Rich believes that once an organization has the education, and realizes they hold the cards to take control, they’re empowered to implement solutions that bring long-lasting positive change within their organization.
Rich started his insurance career working for a large national carrier. One thing always frustrated him, no matter what there was never enough premium being paid by an employer. Premiums went one direction, up. Companies frequently changed carriers, and deductibles, out-of-pocket maximums, and copays were increasing. Healthcare was being turned into a commodity.
He decided to try his hand working for a Third-Party Administrator. His sole emphasis was working with brokers to take organizations from
full insured models and transition them to employer-built partially self-funded healthcare programs. Healthcare was still being commoditized. Millions of dollars in premiums are being shopped on a spreadsheet that aren’t worth a nickel.
Rich was inspired by a friend, and successful consultant (Taylor Rogers), to leave the carrier side and work directly with companies building employer-built healthcare programs. He’s now a partner at Cairn Advisors in Central Texas.

The team at Cairn Advisors believes that employers have far more power than they realize to make a meaningful impact on the US Healthcare system. We believe that transparency, purchasing discipline, empathy, and an unbelievable employee experience are the keys to building a successful benefits program.
We believe that when employers begin to vote with their wallets and stop paying egregious prices for low-value healthcare, we will create a grassroots movement to transform one of the most dysfunctional silos of American infrastructure: healthcare.
